Spontaneous Parametric Down-Conversion – a process that converts a higher energy photon into a pair of entangled photons.
Typically laser fires ‘pump’ photons at a crystal which converts them to a pair of photons as lower energy, often called ‘signal’ and ‘idler’ photons.
