Secure Hash Algorithm – a family of cryptographic hash functions standardised by NIST. Used as an underlying technique to ensure data integrity in a variety of higher-level cryptographic protocols. Of particular importance in many blockchain protocols. Thought to be weakened, but not broken by future quantum computers.
