Realism is the philosophical idea that an object, and its innate properties, exist independently of the observer. The Principle of Locality is the idea that an object is influenced only by its immediate surroundings. Experimental test’s of Bell’s inequality rule out the possibility of adding ‘local hidden variables’ to quantum mechanics to make it compatible with local realism.
