Coherence

While a quantum system retains coherence it exhibits the characteristic quantum properties of indeterminacy, superposition and entanglement. When it interacts randomly with the wider environment, the system rapidly loses coherence and starts to behave as a classical system. The exact process of decoherence is related to the measurement problem in quantum mechanics and is still a matter of scientific and philosophical research.
